This work is based on a theme from the Horn Quartet No 1 by James Langley. It was written in 2001 for Sandstorm Brass which gave the world premiere at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester in 2001 and the first London performance at Regent Hall, Oxford Street the same year. It is dedicated to the memory of the late James Langley and his work among young musicians.
