Written in 2013 for Oliver Herbert and his father, David (principal timpanist, Chicago Symphony Orchestra), this work was premiered by them in Hong Kong in 2019.
An alternative version of this work for double bass and timpani was premiered by David Herbert and Alex Hanna (principal bass, Chicago Symphony Orchestra) in Sapporo, Japan in 2016.
The dances, performed without a break, are:
