This piece was written in March and April 2018, shortly after a period of late snow in County Durham.  It has no specific programme but is prefaced by a poem by Edward Thomas:

Thaw

Over the land freckled with snow half-thawed

The speculating rooks at their nests cawed

And saw from elm-tops, delicate as flower of grass,

What we below could not see, Winter pass.
