My sixth quartet (2001) is a single-movement work bound up with ideas of loss and remembrance, particularly in relation to the 9/11 attacks which took place just before I began writing. The piece is dedicated to the memory of my maternal grandmother, who died just after I completed it. 'In fretta, in vento' was written for the Callino Quartet.
