Additional Information
This setting of a text by Gerard Manley Hopkins was composed in 2018. It is for double choir (including soloists) and organ and last approximately 40 minutes. Hopkins' great poem was written in a burst of inspiration after some years of silence and after he had joined the Catholic Church and been ordained. It was inspired by an incident involving German nuns drowned in a shipwreck off the English coast, and is an extraordinary, mystical exploration of the power and majesty of God, and the mystery of human suffering.
