This is the first movement of a five movement choral symphony, 'Towards the Light', setting religious and philosophical texts from different world traditions. The work was composed in 1993 and revised in 2002. 1. Prelude sets part of the opening of the Bhagavad Gita, in which Krishna teaches Arjuna the concept of 'karma' and the way to walk his path in life.
