Additional Information
His Rents Home Bring is a song cycle in five movements and is written for soprano, alto, spoken voice and string quartet.
The texts used are:
a fifteenth-century anonymous poem;
a Japanese Haiku;
two quatrains by Emily Bronte;
William Shakespeare, first two lines of Sonnet 27;
Thomas Dekker;
John Fletcher, first two lines of his poem Sleep;
Revelations, texts from chapters 21 and 22.
It brings together different artefacts; texts, objects and images to explore human activity in the destruction of the earth. In particular, it has been inspired by the destruction of ancient woodlands, forests and nature.
