Additional Information
The Hop music was commissioned to dancers to perform within Jyll Bradley's sculpture 'The Hop'. It was inspired by the futuristic electronic composition and sampling techniques of the 60s and 70s, particularly the work of Daphne Oram whose studio was in an oasthouse in Kent. I recorded the sounds in Kent. It features a duality in its sonic materials, between authentic, raw, earthy sounds and futuristic, hard, digital sounds, which mirror Jyll’s Sculpture.
Materials: Stereo audio work created and sampled with Logic Pro. Source material: Boats in Ramsgate harbour, the harbour slipway keypad, Southeastern trains at Dumpton Park recorded with Zoom H6 and Zoom shotgun capsule.
Commissioner: The Hop was commissioned by The Hayward Gallery for Jyll Bradley’s sculpture The Hop.
Creative Team: Sampled and composed by Emily Peasgood, train track drum beat created by Dani Osoba.
