Additional Information

A Starfish Called Prometheus is the first song from a larger work developed by the artist Angela Cockayne that I put the music to. It has previously been arranged for the band as an instrumental with the soprano saxophone playing the melody but this version features the original text to be sung by soprano. In common with all the band pieces, has few (if any) score markings. The band worked through the pieces and added their own interpretation; although most are played loud and with force. This one also features an improvised solo from the piano as the band members exit the stage one by one.

Angela Cockayne writes of the work: ‘Song for a Starfish’ who from the comfort of his rock pool observes evolution, enlightenment and disenchantment wondering why he stays the same. Tentacle tingling music composed by the talented Simon Belshaw.
