THE SONGS OF BARLACH (1996) Arrangements for piano and voice of songs based on sculptures by the German Expressionist Ernst Barlach (1870-1938) by mezzo-soprano Elke Ulmer-Kracht. Stephen composed the harmonies and arrangements for piano to Elke's distinctiveand beautiful melodies and words based upon the individual sculptures.
Two CD's were recorded, 'The Sensitive Man' (1996) and 'The Angel' (1999) and performances were given in Germany and the UK.
