Work for string orchestra. Awarded third prize in the Vienna Classical Music Academy 2nd International Composing Competition 2022.
Imagine falling off a cliff. Imagine the panic, the rush of air as you hurtle towards the sea. Then, imagine the relief as you realise your descent is slowing and that you can float and then fly. You hear the cry of gulls and other birds. You fly with them. And as they watch, you dwindle into the distance, leaving them to their daily routine.
And the title and inspiration for the work? I was at a string workshop, I forget where or when, at which the conductor said that the orchestra loved pieces of music which started with a bang, almost like falling over a cliff.
