Additional Information

Jubilation was composed during the early months of 1999. Although no specific event inspired Jubilation, the work was conceived as a celebratory dance, which is reflected in its almost constant sensation of forward motion. Every section should create a feeling of almost relentless movement, whether it is the swagger of achievement due to the performance of a great feat, or of reaching a desired goal, or the more delicate, yet slightly excited, sensation associated with a more reflective air regarding the achievement.

Jubilation was first performed by the Surrey Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Johnathan Butcher, in hte Dorking Halls, Surrey on the 18th MArch 2000. The piece is dedicated to my parents on whose Golden Wedding Anniversary the first performance took place.
