O my King

Additional Information

O My King was Commissioned  by the Clungunford Village Choir, and is a choral meditation upon the Crucifixion.

Text is by the composer:

Oh My King

"O my King, what have we done to Thee?

O Radiant One, O my Lord, O Pure One, O Hidden Treasure,

O my King, what have we done to Thee?

We have twisted a rope of thorns,

And placed it upon Thy Most Blessed Head.

O Long-suffering Lord, heal us.

Father, forgive them.

O my King, what have we done to Thee?

O Eternal One, Divine Wisdom, Life Giving Word, Compassionate Gaze,

All Hearing One, knowing our heart’s desire

O my King, what have we done to Thee?

With cruel thoughts and hard words,

With hatred and envy, suspicions and slander

Spitting, cursing, doubting, hating, mocking, judging

We have darkened Thy Most Blessed Face,

As clouds hide the sun.

O Long-suffering Lord, heal us.

Father, forgive them,

For they know not what they do.

O my King, what have we done to Thee?

In the Form of Man, you came to show us the Way,

Thy Hands extend to give, Thy Feet walk to set us free

Thy Heart pours forth abundant Light and Love

O my King, what have we done to Thee?

We have nailed Thy Hands, and nailed Thy Feet, and pierced Thy Heart

We have wounded Thy Body, and now we weep.

O Long-suffering Lord, heal us.

Father, forgive them,

For they know not what they do.

O my King, what have we done to Thee?

We have laid Thee in a tomb

Thou who art the Life of all

But by Thine own Power, Thou hast risen again

Divine Sun rising in the new Dawn,

Enlightening the world, dispelling all darkness

O my Lord and King,

Fountain of Life, River of Grace, Ocean of Wisdom

O Thou who in Thy Love hast suffered all things

O Long-suffering Lord, Glory to Thee".
