Additional Information

Misa Latina is a concert mass setting for choir and Latin rhythm section (piano, alto sax, bass and 4 percussion players), drawing on Latin/Jazz-Latin dance styles. It was written in 2013 and first performed by the London Docklands Singers at All Saints Church, Poplar, in 2016.  The texts are taken from standard liturgical sources, except for the Credo which is based on an address by Allan Boesak ('This is true...') given to the World Council of Churches Assembly, Vancouver, in 1983. An alto soloist is required for part of the Lamb of God; other short solo sections can be taken by individual voices or small groups of singers. A drumkit (1 player) can replace the Latin Percussion. An alto sax part (Eb) was added in 2022 for a performance by London Docklands Singers.

Kyrie (Tango)

Glory (Cha-cha-cha)

Credo 'It is not true' (Salsa)

Holy (Guaracha)

Lamb of God (Bolero)
