Additional Information

Alongside the exhibition Groove the artist Caroline de Lannoy has been commissioned to produce a new piece for Huddersfield Art Gallery, based on the male and female voice. Caroline de Lannoy will be the first in a series of three commissions to animate the space between the library and art gallery during 2003, based on sound, text and light.  Her sound work ‘INSIGHTS’ consists of an audio-composition recorded and edited on digital audiotape, and transferred to 7 inches vinyl. The sound piece includes spoken words that are mixed to create a sound space. The voices – the male and female voice go through a list of thousand phrases, which are both abstract and referential.  These words/phrases are composed as a body of theoretical discourse, and as a ‘visual poem’, to create an imaginary artwork or ‘a fantasy art picture’, and to develop thinking spaces.

The sound work ‘Insights is composed, and produced by CAROLINE DE LANNOY.
