Additional Information

In this piece, I assembled a collage of text fragments with the aim of drawing a connection between the catastrophic events of September 11th 2001 and, among other things, the notion of ‘angels’.  The text fragments include speeches by Tony Blair and George Bush, from the Bible, and from an American ‘Angel Therapy’ website. I took taken a similar ‘found’ approach to the musical material; using two transpositions of the first four systems of the Gaude virgo  (Ritson Manuscript 107 v-109), I imagined myself as a film editor playing with a strip of celluloid, running the material backwards and forwards, freezing and superimposing it against itself from different starting points, often in a contrary direction to itself.
