A saxophone and piano piece written for Jan Steele.
For those who don’t know, Jan is a composer, saxophone and flute player whose music was featured on Brian Eno’s ‘Obscure’ label alongside John Cage in 1976.
Jan had got in touch about the use of Embertone’s Friedlander violin in my 'Quartet for a Winter’s Day'. I was happy to pass on what knowledge I had, and in exchange he offered to play and record a saxophone piece if I wanted to write one. This is the result which we recorded at his home in July 2023.
