Additional Information

Inspired by Katherine Hoover and her compositional influences from the American Southwest, On Moor and Mountain takes the first line of Fukada Chiyo-ni’s haiku and creates a musical landscape of Native America. Scored for flute and cello, this piece uses a variety of harmonic and melodic characteristics associated with Native American music. The piece has a deliberate absence of barlines and time signature to emulate the vast wilderness and freedom of a Native American landscape.
