In my piece Aubade, I wanted to convey the idea of dawn arriving through slow, shifting change. An aubade is traditionally a love song about lovers leaving each other at dawn. In my piece, rather than musically portraying lovers parting, I have attempted to convey the lovers’ resigned acceptance that the dawn will come and they will have to part.
