Vortichez

Biography

Manipulating her own field recordings as well as scientific recordings, data, voice, and other and any sound sources, and reconstructing acousmatically and narratively, Vortichez plans to open a venue in Recife dedicated to the development of spatial music in nightclubs.

She’s lived in several different world regions and cultures and travelled extensively whilst living away from the UK since 2010. Her studies include MA Philosophy, Kathinka Pasveer's Sound Projection masterclass, and composition with Desmond Clarke. Most of her pieces use Trevor Wishart's Composers Desktop Project software.

A Deep Listening® Certificate holder and dream practitioner, she is also interested in plants as both instruments and communicators.

Hatshepsut's Harem was performed by the composer at BEAST FEaST in Birmingham in April 2018. Want Water was featured at the Art & Science Days in Bourges in June 2018. Look Down features on RMN Music's Electroacoustic and Beyond Vol. 3.

Her poetry, mostly cut-ups, as Myrtle V has been published in magazines online and in print.
