Performance Notes:
The cello should be amplified via a high-quality condenser microphone such as an AKG 414 on a cardioid setting via a high-quality stereo PA.
Amplification will also allow for a performance intimacy.
The reverb setting should ideally use a traditional lexicon reverb or, if in a lexicon is not available, the bright cathedral setting in logic or similar DAW settings (note – the reverb setting is required to emphasise the top end of the bowed instrument and to allow the bass notes to ring forth and sustain whilst the melody plays above it so a long reverb length is required).
