In For Elliott the composer explores different kinds of musical texture and style. The piece is dedicated to Liz Johnson's godson, Elliott Wines, who was just one year old when the piece was written.

The three movements move between darker and lighter moods, reflecting the challenges facing a child born into the last years of the twentieth century.
