Music for Strings

Additional Information

Music for strings consists of three movements with a closing coda. The movements play without a break.

A quiet, mysterious opening is followed by a fast, rhythmic and driving movement. This eventually runs out of steam and the music returns to a shadow of the opening idea only for energy to return with the dance-like third section. The final few bars reprise the opening with echoes of previous ideas.

Music for strings is designed for a range of player ability. Violins, violas and cellos are divided into three groups, those being advanced, intermediate and beginner. The basses spilt into two sections, advanced/intermediate and beginner.
