Additional Information

As the title suggests, this piece has to do with remembering. The music looks back to the electroacoustic opera Teoponte (London International Opera Festival, 1988) and the opera harks back to an episode of the twentieth-century’s violent history (Teoponte, 1970).

Another work that engages with the same topic is String Quartet No. 2 ‘Sin tiempo’, a Koussevitzky commission for the Momenta Quartet (New York, 2013).

Souvenir de Teoponte was written in 2011 for James Rapport, who gave the first performance in Vienna in 2012.
