
Biography
Joanna Borrett is a composer and cellist. She has had several books of music published and two of her duets were included in the 2024 ABRSM cello syllabus.
Joanna’s first string orchestra work – Clan – was recorded by Her Ensemble. On its release last year it was chosen as Album of the Weekend by Scala Radio and Video of the Day by Gramophone and the third movement has also been played on Radio 3's programmes Earlier and Classical Unwind. Two movements of Clan were recently played at the royal investitures at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.
Joanna’s music combines elements of both classical and folk and has been published by U.M.P. and she is a house composer at Kevin Mayhew. The recording of her song cycle Moments of Freedom is being released this summer, and her latest cello book - Wild Cello - has just been published. She is currently working on string orchestra music.
