Grace Joy Howarth

Biography

Grace Joy Howarth is a London-based writer, composer, and First Class honours Songwriting degree graduate. 

 

This year she has worked with Patch Plays to bring her play Blood on Your Hands to The Cockpit Theatre, and her family musical Birdie’s Adventures in the Animal Kingdom to Harrow Arts Centre. 

 

Nine of her short stories and essays have been published by the National Archives, the H.G. Wells Short Story Competition, and in the Vegan Tales anthology. Her musical Radioboy, co-written with Daniella Livingstone, was workshopped in the Pleasance Theatre, longlisted for the New York Plays for Young Audiences showcase and the British Youth Musical Theatre award. Her eco-song cycle Sister Earth was also shortlisted for the Uprising Musical Theatre Showcase. Her first radio play Until We Can’t See the Sky was produced on Resonance FM in 2020. Her work explores topics such as fast fashion, gentrification, sisterhood, feminism and veganism, focusing largely on environmental and ethical issues.
