Mason Birch is a 26 year old self-taught award-winning composer and poet from Sheffield.

Mason’s musical thinking is greatly influenced by art movements such as Romanticism and Expressionism; movements which prioritise subjectivity and the expression of emotion.

Philosophical movements such as Metaphysics, Absurdism, and Existentialism have not only affected his outlook on life, but also his musical motivations. With each piece he writes, he seeks to cause his listeners to experience deep and intense emotion, the ultimate goal being to create a truly Sublime music which makes listeners experience that same sense of smallness and ephemerality typically experienced when looking at a mountain range, a vast ocean, or a starry sky.

In order to achieve this, Mason seeks to overwhelm his audience with an idiosyncratically ethereal harmonic language.
