Dr Robert Stansfield-Cudworth is an Archivist, Historian, and Composer. He was Tutor, Associate Lecturer, and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Lancaster, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His creative practice explores musical evocations of mood and narrative, with his interest in symphonic music also embracing theatre and cinema. His recent orchestral and instrumental creations include symphonies, concerti, and symphonic poems (inspired by historical, literary, and artistic subjects).
Composing since the age of eleven, he studied Music briefly as a History undergraduate at the University of Lancaster before pursuing postgraduate historical research at Lancaster and archival studies at the University of Aberystwyth. He has served as Secretary of the Chetham Society and the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society.
