Robert Stansfield-Cudworth is a British Archivist, Historian, and Composer. Educated at the universities of Lancaster, Copenhagen, and Aberystwyth, he was Tutor, Associate Lecturer, and Honorary Research Fellow at Lancaster. He has served as Secretary of the Chetham Society (2013–17) and the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society (2020–1). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His creative practice explores musical evocations of mood, emotion, and narrative, with his interest in symphonic music also embracing theatre and cinema. His recent orchestral and instrumental creations include symphonic poems (inspired by historical, literary, and artistic subjects) and concerti.
Composing since the age of eleven, he studied Music briefly as a History undergraduate before pursuing postgraduate historical research at Lancaster and archival studies at Aberystwyth.
