Ellen Sargen

Biography

A recent Music graduate from the University of Sheffield, with an MA in Composition, Sargen is currently based in Sheffield as a contemporary composer and advanced flautist. Her works have included those for the Ligeti Quartet, Ensemble 360, NotaBene, Sarah Watts, Jonathan Ayerst, the University of Sheffield Symphony Orchestra and the University's New Music Ensemble.

“As a flautist I have expansive experience as a soloist, and play the piccolo, the alto and the bass flutes.  I also have a lot of experience in arts administration, and chaired the University’s music outreach volunteering body ‘Music in the City’ for two years – designing, coordinating and delivering music projects for schools in and around Sheffield.”

Sargen also produced Music for Youth in 2016 at Firth Hall, and represented Music in the City within the Sheffield Music Hub throughout this time.
