Field recording from my grandmother's old house in Bristol, Tennessee, part of the British Music Collection.
I recorded this as part of a personal sense of place project when beginning my MA studies.
It is a very distinct sound memory for me.
She lived through the depression in the US and subsequently kept everything. Her home had trails and pathways through mountains of curious things. Outside in the grass was a giant rock bit enough to walk on and around. It had pools of water, stone benches to sit down and whirling pinwheels. There were special stones sitting around that she said came from outer space and the entire surface was shaded by a giant oak tree.
I collaborated with my cousin, Mae's great grandchild, for the visual accompanyment. Rhendi collaged footage shot in Tennessee to portray the field recording.
