Ben is a proudly self-taught multi-instrumentalist. His first loves are the piano, drum kit and double bass, but he’s always adding new instruments to his collection and challenging himself to expand his skills. He enjoys a career as a composer, tutor and examiner for Rock School & Yamaha, and from September 2021 Ben will be studying an MSc in Music and Sound for Film and Games from Hertfordshire University.

Ben is the creator of the Throw It Down method and composes music for: branded content, as the independent artist ‘Sponn’ and the electro-pop/folk/jazz duo ‘GREEN AND PINE’.

In addition he creates music related articles, cross arts media and has a YouTube channel showcasing his compositions and transcriptions. In 2011 he gained a Music Degree from LCCM before playing with a diverse range of bands and artists. He’s performed for festivals, album recordings and music videos across a range of genres, the highlights include:

Sofar Sounds, The Roundhouse, Abbey Road, Edinburgh Fringe.

In 2017 he moved to Luton where he teaches from his garden studio in person and online, offering students the chance to use industry standard instruments and programs such as Logic and Sibelius.
