Marisa Cornford is a British composer and pianist, from Lancashire.  She trained at Chetham's School of Music, Edinburgh University,  Mannes College of Music NYC and the National Film and TV School.  After teaching for 20 years at places such as The Purcell School and The Royal Academy of Music, Marisa is now composing full-time for film, games, theatre, art and the concert platform.  Her works have been performed at The Globe Theatre, London and various film festivals.  In November 2018 Marisa was nominated for a composing award for the short film Lao Wai in the Underwire Film Festival. She combines manipulated electronic and acoustic instruments in her works and sometimes performs these live to film, along with her husband, (violist) Dan Cornford, most recently in The Passion of Joan of Arc. They both performed Marisa's Fourteen Meditations on the Stations of the Cross for viola and piano at St Mary's Church, Manchester surrounded by Norman Adams' paintings of the same name which was the inspiration for the work.
