Biography
I was born in Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal. Then studied in Porto, then in London, where I live now.
I was formally trained as a classical pianist and composer but once theatre, dance and performance more broadly came into the game, my practice profoundly changed. Dramatic expression, the physicality of gestures and choreography became as important as sound, and currently, all my works live interdisciplinarily.
I am the founder and co-director of the New Maker Ensemble, a composer-led group for new music and performance art. Because of it, I have come to perform again more often.
I am interested in politics and sociology, language and communication, emergence and game theory, and in the dichotomic relationships between structuralism and randomness, chaos and complexity.
