Additional Information
Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. Single-movement work.
Instrumentation:
Piccolo
Flute
Oboe
2 Clarinet in B fl
Bassoon
Contrabassoon
3 Horn in F
2 Trumpet in B fl
2 Trombone
Tuba
Timpani (suggest 4: 1 x 32”, 2 x 29”, 1 x 26”)
Percussion (3 players): Bass Drum, Suspended Cymbal, Triangle, Tam-Tam
For the most part, there is a maximum of two percussionists playing at any one time. Suggest three percussionists if one doubles as timp. Only one instance where three other percussion instruments besides timps play. Timp player would only have to change once, briefly, to bass drum. This is the most economical use of players.
Piano Solo
(NB - at one brief moment, glass rods are to be placed on the strings inside, horizontally. If this is not possible, the passage may be played normally, without use of the rods).
