2021 Oram Award winner Lia Mice is a ‘pioneering inventor-producer-performer’ (Boomkat) who has released four solo experimental-pop albums on Optimo Music (UK), Objects Ltd (UK), MOORWORKS (Japan), Rice Is Nice (Australia) and Old Flame (USA). Lia Mice's live AV performances combine her self-designed large instruments with dance music beats, live-sampled vocals, dancers and audio-reactive visuals.​ She has performed live in 15 countries at renowned venues including London’s Tate Modern, Institute of Contemporary Art, Barbican Archives Residency, V&A Museum and New York’s Museum of Arts and Design. Her instrument design and performance practice explores the untapped potential of large instruments in musical composition.

Mice is a recipient of numerous residencies: Innovative Instrument Design Duxianqin International Workshop at China Conservatory of Music, Estalagem Residency for Music and Electronics at Ponta Da Sol Madeira, Automation and Me at Leeds International Festival, and Goldsmiths Palermo Summer Intensive Performance Practices in Sicily. Mice has collaborated on instrument design projects with Native Instruments, The Barbican and the OHMI Trust with whom she designed a One-Handed Violin. Other instruments designed by Mice include Chaos Bells (2021) and The Catastrophone (2023). Mice holds a PhD in Media and Arts Technology from Queen Mary University of London and a Master of Music in Creative Practice from Goldsmiths University of London.
