Niel Butterworth was born on the 4th of September in Streatham, London.

He is a horn player, conductor, and writer on music. He studied at London University, the Guildhall School of Music, and Nottingham University.

He has conducted a number of notable orchestras, including the Sutton Symphony Orchestra.
