Stephen Gardner
Biography
Stephen Gardner is a British composer of orchestral and choral music, whose works are performed worldwide. He showed little interest in music as a child and left school aged 16 to work in a bakery, before becoming interested in classical guitar performance after beginning to play music aged 20. He holds a BA from the University of Ulster, an MA from the University of Wales and currently resides in Dublin. Stephen’s musical influences are diverse, including Leo Sayer, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Pink Floyd, Stravinsky and Bach. He has received commissions from ensembles such as Ulster Orchestra, Crash Ensemble and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of Aosdana: Ireland’s state-sponsored academy of artists.
