Biography
LAURENCE HUGHES (also known as Laurence Armstrong Hughes) was born in 1952 in London, and studied Music and Theatre at the University of York and Composition at King's College, London. His works have been performed by numerous musicians and ensembles, including the BBC Singers, New London Children's Choir, Highgate Choral Society, New London Orchestra, the choirs of St. George's Chapel, Windsor and Eton College Chapel, and many others. His music has been performed in various parts of the UK and also abroad, and broadcast on BBC Radio, and he has also composed music for various TV programmes. He has written in all sorts of genres, including light music and music for brass band and his work includes three symphonies, cantatas, several collections of songs and a major setting of 'Scenes from Paradise Lost'. He has specially concentrated in vocal and choral music.
