Biography
Jonathan Booty (b.1956)
After initial training as a flautist at the R.C.M. and in Paris, Jonathan spent a number of years in the position of Assistant Principal Flute in the Hallé Orchestra.
Over the past 10 years, he has focused increasingly on composition, studying at Manchester University as a mature student, primarily with Prof. John Casken. He now combines work as a freelance flautist with composition, tutoring on a part-time basis at Manchester University in instrumentation.
His compositions have been performed at the BASBWE conference, by Psappha in Manchester and Liverpool, in London by New Noise and by his own ensemble, Trio Fauve. His concert studies for solo flute, Secret Studies, were chosen for the S.P.N.M. shortlist in 2003 and his Trio – Shadow Fragments has recently been added to the 2007 shortlist.
