Jack James is an artist interested sound, play and politics; making noises in installation, performance and public work. His work often features domestic technologies (re)positioned to create events and happenings that explore media in relation to everyday life and culture. Jack’s practice merges the fields of sound and social practice utilising various formats including installation, performance, writing and public presentation. In addition to his independent practice Jack is part of the artists' collective thickear and part of the education team at South London Gallery.

"For me, composition is about creating a series of facilitated events that draw audience members and participants together into aesthetic space. Creating some kind of temporary appreciated moment of now, as objects, sounds and the situation take on a new meaning."
