Biography
Iris Garrelfs is an interdisciplinary artist working within music, art and sociology. She holds a PhD in Sound Art from the University of the Arts London and her practice includes fixed media, installation and improvised performance. Her works have been performed at institutions such as the Tate Britain, Gaudeamus Amsterdam, the Barbican and MC Gallery New York. Iris’s interests include in modes of listening as a way of connecting to the world, patterns and interaction through performance, voice and place. She often uses her own voice as raw material in her work. Iris is currently a Senior Lecturer in Sonic Art at Goldsmiths University of London. She is also the commissioning editor of the online journal Reflections on Process in Sound and the co-curator and director of Sprawl: a London based experimental music organization.
