Biography
Caroline Askew is an English composer living in Yorkshire. She graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 1991 and was awarded the Ricordi prize for 'Best Composition' for her work Summer, do you remember? This piece was shortlisted by the SPNM and was recently performed by Jane's Minstrels at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
In 1991 she was awarded a bursary to take the Film Music Course at Dartington International Summer School. Caroline is currently studying for a Masters degree in Pure Composition at the University of Huddersfield. Her music includes both acoustic and electro-acoustic compositions and music for film and video.
She is also working for the University as a Research Assistant, researching into Women Composers,with a view to promoting a balanced view of both male and female composers in the history courses taught there. Her articles on Women Composers have been published by the International League of Women Composers in America and by the British Women in Music Journal.
