Sound and Music have a new development plan in place for the British Music Collection designed to open up the archive to become a 21st century tool for artists and audiences to discover the story of British contemporary music. These are exciting times for the Collection as we open up all of the music and stories to a wider audience.
We are currently seeking a curator for our second exhibition on Google Cultural Institute. The exhibition will be on a theme of WW1, and will go live to the public around the anniversary of Armistice Day. Composers featured in the Collection who served in WW1 include George Butterworth, Ivor Gurney and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
We are looking for a creative approach which is not purely historical, and which draws in the work of more composers in the Collection than those who have a direct connection with WW1.
We are accepting expressions of interest from composers at any stage in their career for this opportunity.
