Biography

Satoko studied composition at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and at the Royal College of Music. Her major past achievements include a short ballet; Les Emotion, performed by the English National Ballet and choreographed by Van le Ngoc, a solo piano piece  performed in St. Pauls Cathedral as part of the City of London Festival, and participation in the Orkest de ereprijs' Young Composers Meeting in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Recently, Satoko has been selected to write for the Orchestra of Age of Enlightenment as part of Sound and Music's Portfolio scheme. The work was premiered by principle members of the OAE as part of their Night Shift pub tour in autumn 2013. Satoko is also a harpsichordist, performing in a range of contexts from solo recitals to orchestral playing.
