Phil Archer

Biography

Phil Archer completed his PhD in music composition at the University of East Anglia in 2004 and currently teaches part-time at Norwich University of the Arts. Archer teaches sound design on the Film degree course, covering a wide range of genres and techniques. As well as having a strong theoretical background, he has experience delivering professional post-production audio for a variety of media and output formats. Phil has worked on projects ranging from abstract animation to documentaries, and recently provided the soundtrack for a number of MTV productions. He has also recorded and released music commercially which has been well reviewed in the music press as well as receiving radio play on BBC Radio 1, Radio 3, and 6 Music. Archer also played guitar in the Anglo-Japanese electro punk-pop band Hyper Kinako, make solo recordings, and play in Transept.
