Percy Young
Biography
Percy Young (1912 - 2004) was a British musicologist, editor, organist, composer, conductor and teacher. Born in Northwich Cheshire. After studying organ at Cambridge through a scholarship, Young continued to study composition and later went on to become Director of Music at the new Stranmillis College, the teacher training establishment.
In 1937 Young married Anna Letitia and left Ulster to become appointed music adviser to the local education authority of Stoke-on-Trent. From 1944 he became Music Director at Wolverhampton College of Technology and held that position for the next 12 years.
