"I am a firm believer in the power of music to express the depth of human souls, which as a matter of fact has faded from most of today's music, arts, culture, and ideology, the last of which exalts objectivity and impersonality especially in form. There is nothing profane about such formalism, but were there no soul, then form – as a product of men's craft – will go not much further beyond a perfectly round stone. My view as such is a direct result of my continued belief in Romanticism, from which my music takes root amidst the diversity of post-modernist styles and contemporary aesthetics today."
As an emerging composer, Owen’s music has been listed in CoMA library (Contemporary Music for All) and performed in England, Romania, and Hong Kong. He was a finalist in composition competitions such as “International Orange Chorale of San Francisco - Choral Composition Competition” and “Hendrix College (USA) Candlelight Carol Competition.” His works have also been workshopped in composition and performance master classes held by Ensemble Offspring, Dördüncü Piano Duo, Roberto Abbondanza, Dr Kawai Chan, etc.
Owen currently studies composition at the Royal College of Music in London (MMus in Composition). Previously, he had obtained his BA in Music with 1st Class Honours from the University of Hong Kong and received numerous prizes and scholarships in recognition of his academic excellence.
