Biography

Matthew Roddie was born in Glasgow in 1974.

He studied composition at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with John Maxwell Geddes and then at the University of York with David Roddie, receiving a DPhil in 2000.

He has written works for the Paragon Ensemble, the Edinburgh String Quartet, the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and the Newcastle-based Young Sinfonia.

His Missa Brevis for choir and organ was commissioned for the Choir of St Michael and All Saints' Church with funds from the Scottish Arts Council and first performed during the 2001 Edinburgh International Festival.

He has recently completed a piano trio commissioned for the Northern Aldborough Festival.
