Biography

Ivy Mason Whipp (b.1920) is a composer and songwriter. She is know for her song 'Woo Her Gently' (to words by a Verity-Young) and for setting to music Nicholas Freeston's poems 'The Stream', 'A Bird Song Away', 'The Thrush' and 'They Sweeten Time', all published by Boosey and Hawkes.

Her compositions were performed by opera singer Vivian Townley, and sang numerous times on BBC radios by singers such as Cynthia Glover, Gladys New, Donald Pilley and Raymond Budd.
