Aled Smith (b.1990), is a composer, born in Wrexham, North Wales. His music is frequently performed throughout the UK and internationally. He has collaborated with and written works for Alexandra Dariescu, Clare Hammond, NEW
Sinfonia, Kinetic Manchester, Ensemble of St Luke’s, London Sinfonietta, Latvijas Radio Koris, BBC Singers. RNCM New Ensemble and RNCM Brand New Orchestra to name a few. Aled also works as a teacher, editor and
copyist. He undertook undergraduate study in Liverpool, graduating with First-Class Honours (2012) before moving to the RNCM in
Manchester, where he received an MMus with distinction (2014) and is currently reading for a
PhD supervised by Adam Gorb and Emily Howard. Prizes/awards include: RNCM Gold Medal winner, for composition 2017- Aberystwyth Musicfest Composer 2017- TENSO Young Composer 2016- Alba Music Festival Composition Fellow 2016- RPS minicommission competition winner 2013- British Harpsichord Society International Competition 3rd prize 2012
